We just got the deal to saw Baltimore City's Oldest Oak -- a Champion White Swamp Oak tree!

Sadly the tree couldn't be saved after several years of treatment. It was irreparably damaged by a Port-a-pot fire in 2010.

Sawmill Fun

Today we used the sawmill for some fun with the kids.    I was doing a sawmill demo.     The kids decided to build a board and batten fort around 3 trees.   John and Patrick offloaded the boards.  John drove the tractor with cart full of boards.  Patrick spotted.  Katherine and Fiona designed the fort.  1 poplar log + 1 WoodMizer saw mill + 4 creative kids = Fun!

Selective Harvesting

We are selectively harvesting timber this weekend.   Helping out our farmer friends and partners @unlimbitedtree in the process!   We'll follow up with a post to let you know what we found and retrieved.

We have three (3) new exciting business developments to share: 

(1) We are booking our portable on-site log milling (think a sawmill that can drive down the road) service appointments now! We can turn your downed trees into lumber! 
(2) The 2000 board foot capacity solar kiln will be charged with the first load of the year starting early April. We'll have several hundred board feet of wide Red Oak and Tulip Poplar for Sale. Harvested responsibly from our own forest!!
(3) By May, we will have Black Walnut and Elm lumber milled and dried for sale
